Maternity Protection
The International Labour Organisation commissioned an explainer animation to raise awareness of maternity protection rights among workers and employers across Sub-Saharan Africa. The brief required sensitive handling of a topic that touches on workplace discrimination, health, and economic vulnerability, communicated clearly without being heavy-handed.
The animation follows a central female character through five key principles of maternity protection, weaving the information into the narrative of her working day and pregnancy. I handled the full production including character design, animation, and voiceover. The project marked my first use of Duik for character rigging in After Effects. The project opened up a new dimension of my motion work and demonstrated what explainer animation can do when storytelling and advocacy are properly integrated.
